LSC Student Argues Tax Case Via Phone During Pandemic

Due to restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, Oliver Roberts, a second-year student at Harvard Law School, recently argued a case by phone before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. In this case, LSC represented a couple who had been audited by the IRS and disagreed with the amount the IRS said they owed. The couple was unaware of their right to dispute the finding, because the IRS sent that notification to their previous address–despite having been notified multiple times of the couple’s new address. The video below highlights additional details about the case and how Oliver prepared for the argument with the help of LSC Tax Clinic Director Keith Fogg and other LSC colleagues.
