Clinical Instructor, Veterans Legal Clinic
Peter Perkowski (he/him) is a Clinical Instructor in the Veterans Legal Clinic, where he represents low-income veterans in correcting military discharge paperwork, eliminating barriers to benefit eligibility, and accessing earned disability and compensation benefits from state and federal veterans programs. Peter also provides policy and advocacy services for historically underserved and marginalized veterans and veterans groups.
Peter received a B.A. (in Mathematics) from the University of Rochester, a law degree from George Washington University Law School, and an M.A. (in Kinesiology) from California State University, Long Beach. Before joining the Clinic, Peter provided direct legal and advocacy services to military service members and veterans in the LGBTQ+ communities and those living with HIV; worked on policy initiatives affecting those groups before the Pentagon, the VA, and Congress; participated as amicus in high-profile civil-rights litigation affecting the LGBTQ+/HIV+ military communities, and engaged in impact litigation against the Department of Defense on behalf of transgender service members and service members with HIV.
